Fortunately for us, Solar Energy Maps offers a solution. This open platform aims to raise awareness for renewable energy installations around the world.

 

As you can see from the map above, there are already areas in the continental United States with a significant amount of solar installations. One of the best features of this tool is that it allows anyone to add an entry to their database. The hope is that this method of crowdsourcing data will keep the maps up-to-date.
